One died and three were injured in shootout that occurred in the city of Khorog, administrative center of Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, eastern Tajikistan, reported local media.
Law enforcers attempted to detain several residents of the city, who are suspected of committing several reports, according to media reports.
“A group of locals defended their natives, the law enforcers used firearms in the result,” reported Asia-Plus news agency citing a source in a local administration.
Three locals were wounded, one of suspects was killed in the shootout, the source said.
“Supporters of the killed and injured set Khorog city police department on fire,” the source added.
According to TojNews, one car was burnt, another was damaged.
A local police official told Ozodagon agency the incident occurred over misunderstanding. The situation is stable at the moment. He denied reports about Khorog police department set on fire and did not confirm that one man was killed in the shootout.
