The Institute of Botany has been merged with the Institute of Medicinal Plants to develop the biological and biotechnological fields of science. The newly created establishment has been renamed to the Institute of Biology and Medicinal Plants.

The Gun (Sun) Institute has been merged with the Institute of Physics and Mathematics to explore the potential of renewable energy sources, improve scientific and technological research and introduce relevant scientific research and innovations in the industries. It has been renamed to the Institute of Solar Energy.

In addition, the Institute of Seismology has been merged with the State Service for Seismology to study and monitor the seismological situation, improve the system of seismology and research activities in this field and study the atmospheric natural phenomena. The establishment has been renamed to the Institute of Seismology and Physics of Atmosphere.

The Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan has been instructed to develop and adopt a set of new regulations.
