AKIPRESS.COM - Customs-Union-+Armenia Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volynkin is convinced that Armenia will join the Eurasian Economic Union this year. “This year, for sure,” he told journalists adding that he couldn’t say when exactly, Arka News Agency reports.

“But I can assure you that obstacles are exceptionally technical and that there is no politics at all,” the Ambassador noticed. “I am convinced that the agreement will be signed in a version acceptable to Armenia and other Eurasian Economic Union member countries.”

On May 29, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan expressed Yerevan’s intention to join the Eurasian Economic Union agreement until June 15 at a session of the Eurasian Economic Council in Astana (Kazakhstan). However, the required papers have not been signed so far.

In resent days, media outlets quoted Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Yerlan Idrisov as saying that the agreement between Armenia and the Eurasian Economic Union is likely to be signed in October 2014 at a regular meeting of Eurasian Economic Union countries’ presidents in Minsk.
