AKIPRESS.COM - Youth team of Tajikistan led by head coach Radzhab Rasulov tied the score with Iraq 1-1 in the second match of Group B at the AFC U-14 Championship 2014 in Iran's Hamedan.
Iraq thus left Group B wide open and now leads the group with four points, while Thursday's score was Tajikistan's first of the tournament following their 2-1 defeat by Thailand earlier this week.
Following South Korea's 8-0 win against Thailand, all four teams can still make the semi-finals when the quartet resume their U-14 title bid on Saturday.
Radzhab Rasulov admitted his team had played against tough opponents, and that one point from the match was satisfactory.
“Both sides didn't want to lose today so they were very careful, that's why we shared the points. I am still hopeful. We will try to win our next match and see what happens,” he said.
Tajikistan will conclude their Group B matches against South Korea on Saturday, while Iraq will face Thailand.
