Kyrgyz national team wins one medal at Youth Olympics in China (results)

AKIPRESS.COM - Athletes from Kyrgyzstan won a medal at the second Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing (China), said official website of the Games.

Seven Kyrgyz athletes, who competed for medals in six kinds of sports, participated in the Games.

The luckiest of them was judo athlete Rostislav Dashkov, who won silver medal in the semifinals in the weight category up to 100 kg.

The captain of the team, weightlifter Kursant Tolonov (up to 77 kg) took the 6th place, showing the final result of 280 kg. However, only 30 kg separated the Kyrgyzstani athlete from the bronze medal.

Rodion Kripchenko, in a duet with Adelina Ibatulina from Russia, took the 7th place in the modern pentathlon mixed relay competitions. Their overall result (1161 points) is only 22 points lower than the result of bronze winners.

Another Kyrgyz pentathlete Valeriya Uvarova took 19th place in mixed relay competitions. In the individual competitions, both representatives of Kyrgyzstan took the final 19th place.

Equestrian sport athlete Igor Kozubaev, as member of the national team of Asia, took 6th place in the competition of international teams. In the individual tournament the Kyrgyzstani athlete failed to show results.

Shooter Dmitry Gutnik took 17th place in the qualifying round and was unable to get to the final.

Kirill Bondar participate in canoeing and rowing in two types of programs at the Games in Nanjing. He reached the 1/8 final in the sprint and took the 11th place.

At the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010 Kyrgyz athletes won 3 medals (one gold and two bronze).
