Poroshenko press service announces cease-fire in Donbass after talks with Putin

AKIPRESS.COM - 3794defef730169d51344b3d01de7f58 Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed on cease-fire in Donbass in a telephone conversation, the Ukrainian presidential press service said Wednesday.

"The conversation resulted in an agreement on a lasting ceasefire in Donbas. Mutual understanding was achieved regarding steps that would promote the establishment of peace," it said.

Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov had reported a telephone conversation between Putin and Poroshenko earlier on Wednesday, saying that the two leaders "continued discussions regarding the military and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine."

"The chiefs of state exchanged opinions as to what should be done primarily to stop bloodshed in the southeastern part of the country as soon as possible. The presidents' viewpoints on possible ways to overcome the grave and critical situation coincide to a considerable degree," he said.
