AFC suspends Tajikistan footballer for doping at Asiad

AKIPRESS.COM - incheon A Tajik player has been suspended from all football-related activities after testing positive for a banned substance at the Asian Games in Incheon, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced on Wednesday.

Defender Khurshed Beknazarov tested positive for methylhexaneamine after the match against Singapore on September 14.

"Beknazarov is now banned from taking part in any football-related activity for 30 days. This can be further extended by 20 days," the AFC said in a statement.

Beknazarov, 20, was thrown out of the Asian Games on Tuesday.

Methylhexaneamine is widely found in dietary supplements and sporting authorities say it is increasingly common among professional athletes.

The AFC said the doping incident would be discussed at the next meeting of its disciplinary committee.

"The Tajikistan Football Federation has been notified of this decision," it said.
