Uzbekistan and Russia getting ready to sign migration deal

AKIPRESS.COM - migrants Uzbekistan and Russia are working on the agreement on organized employment of migrants, said Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak at the Uzbek-Russian intergovernmental commission's meeting in Tashkent on November 26.

The agreement is aimed to remove existing tensions in relation to labor migrants from Uzbekistan in Russia, said Kozak.

In the first quarter of 2015, it is planned to hold a meeting on topical issues of labor migration.

By July 2015, on the basis of recommendations developed by the sides, the parties will define their positions that will form the basis for the planned agreement.

About 4 - 6 million migrants from Uzbekistan are working in Russia so far, according to the statistics. The population of Uzbekistan, according to recent data voiced by President Islam Karimov, is nearing 31 million.
