AKIPRESS.COM - A study released this month by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), a Bethlehem, PA non-profit that links college career placement offices with employers, reveals which majors its members are looking for among the class of 2016.
NACE got responses to questionnaires it sent out from early August through mid-September from 201 companies, asking about their plans to hire people who will be graduating from college and graduate school at the end of this academic year. The respondents were mostly big companies in the U.S. like Aetna, Chevron, DuPont, Procter & Gamble and Macy’s, reports Forbes.
NACE broke out the top 11 degrees for those earning bachelor’s and the top 10 degrees for master’s and doctorate grads. Not surprising, STEM degrees rate the highest, with accounting topping the undergrad list, computer science scoring No. 1 for master’s students and electrical engineering for those with doctorates.
Forbes came up with a chart below showing the specific degrees most in demand and the number of respondents who said they would hire in each discipline.
