New traffic rules adopted in Ulaanbaatar starting February 1

AKIPRESS.COM - Starting from 1 February 2016, every Mongolian driver has notional 10 points on his or her account which may be removed in case of committing traffic violation. If a driver violates the regulations or standards of traffic safety, up to 5 points are to be removed from his 'report card' depending on type of violation, reports GoGo.

Driver won't be allowed to drive a vehicle if he/she loses all 10 points. If so, driver must attend driving courses. He/she will be again awarded 10 points and allowed to drive after passing the exam.

Adoption of the so-called violation point system aims to prevent road accidents, reduce volume of damages, improve drivers' responsibility and encourage them to drive more carefully.

Driver can find out his/her 'violation score' by using driving licenses via mobile app, SMS or a relevant website.

GoGo has prepared a table of incidents diminishing 10-point report card.
