“We received a report about fire at the Narantuul Trade Center at 3.39 am... The textiles market's area is 5,700 square meters and the fire spread to over 2,500 square meters. A total of 102 firefighters from nine rescue teams worked at the site," said the National Emergency Management Agency.
“I have been selling textiles at Narantuul for 15 years. I had products worth about 15-16 million togrog... Why does fire always break out before dawn?” mourns one of the local vendors.
The General Police Department of Ulaanbaatar said that officers are working to determine the cost of damages from the fire.
Fire had already broken out at the Narantuul Trade Center. It covered the food market in August 2013, killing one woman. An investigation revealed that the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring back then.
