Japan wins U-16 friendly festival in Tashkent

AKIPRESS.COM - football_goalJapan defeated host Uzbekistan 2-0 in the final match of the Under-16 football festival, reports Tehran Times.

In the match held at the Jar Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Suganava Yokinori (73) and Hiroshi Yamada (86) scored twice for the Japanese team.

In the third place match, Iran humiliated Turkmenistan 6-0.

Hamid Alidoosti’s boys were held to a 0-0 draw against Japan in the tournament’s first day and lost to Uzbekistan 2-1.

Iran is preparing for the 2016 AFC U-16 Championship which will take place in India between 15 September and 2 October 2016.

A total of 16 teams will play in the tournament while the top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India as the AFC representatives, besides India who qualified automatically as host.
