AKIPRESS.COM - DeathPenalty-arrest-court-prison China executed 3 citizens of Kyrgyzstan from 2010 to 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told AKIpress on June 1.

Two of those executed were accused of murder, while one more citizen was accused of illicit drug trafficking.

“The respected state bodies carried out the work for mitigation of the sentences or extradition of the citizens sentenced to death. These issues were discussed during [various bilateral] consultations between the two countries... President's and Prime Minister's messages were sent with a request to reconsider the death penalty too,” said the Foreign Ministry.

According to the Chinese law, murder, drug production and trafficking – over 1 kg of opium or 50 g of heroin – are punishable by death.

Earlier, China also executed the citizens of the United Kingdom, Japan and the Philippines “despite all political and diplomatic efforts of the leadership of these countries,” added the Foreign Ministry.
