Bishkek to celebrate 2nd International Day of Yoga

AKIPRESS.COM - The Embassy of India will be celebrating the 2nd International Day of Yoga in Kyrgyzstan on 21 June 2016 in a big way.

The first International Day of Yoga in Bishkek last year was met with huge enthusiasm in all the regions of Kyrgyzstan, the Embassy said.

“As you are aware, for overall good-health of the world and recognizing that Yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being, on December 11, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly had declared 21 June as the International Day of Yoga (IDY). A record 177 countries including Kyrgyzstan had co-sponsored the Resolution,” Ambassador Jayant Khobragad said.

In partnership with the City Administration of Bishkek City, the Embassy will be holding the main event of the International Yoga Day on 21 June 2016 in front of the Monument of Kurmanjan Datka (orientation Ala-Too cinema, Chui/Tynystanova crossing), Bishkek. The event will start at 1900 hrs.

The programme consists of doing Asanas (exercises) in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol, demonstration of Asanas, explanation of Yoga and distribution of Prasad.

All willing are invited to participate. The access will be free. Those who would like to take part in the Yoga performing may carry a Yoga mat.
