Bishkek to host Festival of India

AKIPRESS.COM - festival The Ministry of Culture of India, in collaboration with the Indian Embassy, is holding Festival of India in Bishkek in October 2016. The Festival is being organized by India to mark 25th year of Kyrgyzstan’s independence, 25 years of their establishing diplomatic relations with the Kyrgyz Republic and 70 years of India’s independence. The premium cultural event of Festival of India is also dedicated to the “Year of History and Culture” of Kyrgyzstan.

For the Festival, three cultural groups will be visiting Kyrgyzstan and giving a show each. The cultural bonanza starts with the performance by a renowned Sitar (Stringed Musical Instrument) Artist Ms. Smita Nagdev accompanied by other artists. The performance will be held in the Kyrgyz National Academical Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Abdrahmanova Street, Bishkek at 6.30 PM on 10 October, 2016. Entry to the theatre is free for the event.

The second event under the Festival is the Contemporary Art Exhibition featuring some of the finest Indian Artists viz. Anjolie Ela Menon, Arpana Caur, Arzan Khambatta, Jatin Das, Satish Gujral and others. The exhibition will also show works and artifacts of the Indian artists. The exhibition will take place in the “Frunze” Exhibition Hall for 7 days from 18 to 25 October from 11 AM to 7 PM and will be open to the general public.

The festival will culminate with the performance by Kathak (Classical) Dance Group consisting of 10 classical dancers led by Ms. Sarita Sharma and Ms. Manju Chaturvedi. This dance show will also be held in the Kyrgyz National Academical Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Bishkek on 21 October, 2016 at 6.30 PM. Entry will be free. All are welcome to witness the above programmes.
