Tekebayev's arrest: Rally proceeded to White House

AKIPRESS.COM - Protesters, who first gathered in the main square in Bishkek on February 27 noon in support of Ata-Meken faction leader Omurbek Tekebayev, headed to the White House. 

Former Prosecutor General, current MP Aida Salyanova is among the protesters.

Yesterday, the members of the Ata-Meken faction announced their plan to organize a rally in front of the White House to support their party leader Omurbek Tekebayev, who was arrested for 48 hours on suspicion of corruption and fraud.

Tekebayev was detained on February 26 at the international airport Manas upon arrival from Istanbul.  

On February 25, the National Security Committee launched criminal case against Tekebayev based on statements of  Russian businessman Leonid Mayevsky, who claims to have paid $1 million to Tekebayev in exchange for MegaCom shares.
