AKIPRESS.COM - President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon today left for Islamabad, where he will participate in the 13th Economic Cooperation Organization Summit, reported the President's press service.
The head of state is accompanied with Foreign Minister, President's advisor on foreign affairs and economic issues.
The country's Minister of Energy and Water Resources and Minister of Economic Development and Trade will participate in the ECO Summit as well.
The 13th ECO Summit will take place today in Islamabad. The participants will discuss expansion of the regional cooperation in the priority areas and will adopt the Islamabad Declaration.
The ECO was founded in 1985. It consists of predominantly Muslim-majority states as it is a trading bloc for the Central Asian states connected to the Mediterranean through Turkey, to the Persian Gulf via Iran, and to the Arabian sea via Pakistan.
