AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan's GDP growth in 2016 was 3.8%, Economy Minister Arzybek Kojoshev told reporters on March 6.

Among the members of the Eurasian Economic Union, Kazakhstan's GDP growth was 0.8% in 2016, Armenia's economy grew 0.5%, while Russia and Belarus saw their GDPs decreased by 0.2% and 2.6%, respectively, said Kojoshev.

"Everybody faces challenges in transition periods. As you know, we are petroleum-dependent country. However, today we buy petroleum from Russia free of duties. In accordance with the agreement on petroleum products' supply, we receive 560,000 tons of gasoline and 100 tons of jet fuel. We've also agreed with Gazprom on gas supplies," said Kojoshev. 

Minister also added that the money transfers by Kyrgyzstanis working in Russia have also grown over the year 2016.

"Over 1 million Kyrgyz citizens are working in Russia and they transfered 1.6 billion som in the first 11 months of 2016 or 300 million som more than the previous year," said Kojoshev.
