A congratulatory address delivered by the head of state says that showing deep reverence towards mothers and due respect to women is a centuries-old national tradition of the people of Turkmenistan, handed down from generation to generation. Folk epic poems (destan), wise proverbs and sayings, lullabies, beautiful wedding songs, national jewelry testify to respect for working women, who are devoted to their native country, their people and the sacred family hearth.

"Women in our country are successfully working in governmental and executive agencies, all sectors of the national economy, notably in science and education, culture, health care, in factories and enterprises, tooled with high-technology equipment. They are actively engaged in implementing national and state programs, business and public life," the message published on the Turkmenistan Today state news website reads. 

Berdimuhamedov wished: "May happy smiles always light up your lovely faces!"
