AKIPRESS.COM - The National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan (GKNB) confirmed that the suspected St Petersburg bomber is a native of Kyrgyzstan who obtained the Russian citizenship.

GKNB is in contact with the Russian special services regarding the investigation, the statement said.

Earlier, St Petersburg-based 5th Channel reported that the suspected St Petersburg metro station bomber could be a citizen of Russia, native of Kyrgyzstan — Akbarjon Jalilov born in 1995.  Akbarjon Jalilov is suspected of detonating an improvised explosive device in the subway train car, which was heading to the Technological Institute station from the station Sennaya Ploshchad on April 3, the report said. He is also the main suspect of placing another improvised explosive device at the station Ploshchad Vosstaniya, which did not detonate, the report said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was in the city when the blast struck, visited the scene of the explosion late on Monday night and laid flowers at a makeshift shrine to the victims.
