President of Turkmenistan receives Head of Asian Olympic Council

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received President of the Asian Olympic Committee Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah who arrived for participation in International Sport Congress “Asian Games 2017: International Sport Cooperation for Peace and Progress”, Turkmenistan Today state news agency reported.

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah noted that owing to huge attention paid by the Head of the State to the development of this sphere, Turkmenistan becomes the place of prestigious international sport competitions. The fact that Ashgabat was selected for V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games is a bright evidence to this.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated with delight fruitful character of cooperation with the Asian Olympic Committee. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that our country is adherent to high humanitarian ideals of the Olympic movement and follows the course of further expansion of cooperation.

Turkmenistan undertakes necessary measures to conduct 2017 Asian Games on highest level, the Head of the State continued, having mentioned the facilities of the capital Olympic village, which are to host the competitions of the Games, development of volunteers’ movement, exchange of experience with world’s known sport federations and leading media agencies.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah shared the opinions on the development of partnership, having stated the presence of favourable prospects for its consolidation. Preparation issues of the Asian Games, which are to be the largest in the history of these Games, were a separate subject of the meeting.

High organizational level of the current forum, events on occasion of the World’s Health Day, quality of sport facilities including Olympic village and new Avaza Sport Complex are vivid evidence of the importance that Turkmenistan attaches to the developemtn of sport, physical training and health improving movement, the Head of the AOC said.

The guest noted that responsible and imitative approach, demonstrated by Turkmenistan in organization of V Asian Games, would provide an absolute success. These sport competitions will be bright and remarkable event and promote popularization of sports.
