
AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a phone conversation on May 1, official media report.
Mirziyoyev congratulated Berdimuhamedov on the Turkmen Horse Day and thanked for the reception of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who attended the celebrations in Ashgabat.During the conversation, the heads of the states discussed the priorities of bilateral cooperation under the agreements reached during the first state visit of the Uzbek leader to Turkmenistan in March 2017. Positive dynamics of implementation of these agreements was mentioned.
The parties highlighted the importance of regular high-level and intergovernmental contacts, including under the work of Turkmen – Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission and meetings of business communities of two countries. The sides highlighted the strategic role of automobile and railway bridges across Amudarya River, which were recently put into operation by Turkmen side.
The sides also mentioned the significance of humanitarian component of Turkmen – Uzbek relations. In this context, mutual purpose of intensification of fruitful contacts in cultural sphere, sports and tourism was highlighted.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited his Uzbek colleague to visit rapidly developing Avaza national tourist zone and familiarize with the development of Balkan Velayat, where large projects for development of rich natural resources, recreational capabilities and construction of large seaport are underway.
The President of Uzbekistan accepted the invitation with gratitude. The date of the visit will be coordinated by diplomatic channels.
