AKIPRESS.COM - Chinese group Sany plans to invest in the development of wind energy in Kazakhstan, according to the company's vice president, Wind Power Monthly reported.
Sany, together with the Kazakh energy ministry, is considering sites for wind farms.
Among the proposed options are the Almaty, Zhambyl, Akmola and the Mangystau regions of the country, which have the best conditions for the development of wind power.
SANY chief Duan Dawei told the Kazinform news agency: “Recently, we have agreed with Kazakh partners on co-sponsoring a wind power project.” Duan did not provide any details about the investment or location of the planned wind power facility but did say he would be visiting Kazakhstan soon.
According to the Kazakh presidential administration, at the initial stage the total capacity of wind power plants will amount to 100MW, with a possibility of an increase in future phases.
Implementation of any project will be part of the plans of the Kazakh government for the increase of the share of renewables in the overall energy structure of the country up to 50% by 2025.
