Kyrgyzstan, China Presidents vow to boost bilateral ties

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev met on May 16 with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing, the press service of the President said.

Both sides vowed to push forward the strategic partnership between the two countries noting that the sides have advanced bilateral ties during these 25 years of cooperation.

The great Belt and Road Initiative will help strengthen international cooperation and mutual understanding and trust for all parties, said Atambayev. Atambayev thanked for inviting to the Belt and Road Forum. He called China a good neighbor of Kyrgyzstan, an important and reliable partner. "Chinese grants, financial and technical assistance given to Kyrgyzstan over the years made significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the country," he said.

Xi for his part said China supports Kyrgyzstan's efforts to safeguard independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and supports its development path and domestic and foreign policies in accordance with its own national conditions.  As important forces in maintaining regional security and stability, China and Kyrgyzstan should enhance anti-terror and law enforcement cooperation, said Xi.

Kyrgyzstan is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields such as the economy, trade and security, and actively advance the construction of key infrastructure projects, Atambayev added.
