AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was outraged by "irresponsibility of bankers and financiers" and criticized Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Azimov for the lack of control over this field.
"Why don't you control all these things?! After all, you, as the one responsible for economic sphere, should call all these bankers to conscience! Because you are afraid of the Ministry of Finance. In fact, I should have fired you! I'll fire 50 percent of district financiers. All of them are good-for-nothing," the President said.
Mirziyoyev criticized the financiers for "bribery" and "living for fun". He said they should contact with people and attract the society to entrepreneurship. "They should come to every house and offer loans for doing business," Mirziyoyev said.
Mirziyoyev, 59, is the president of Uzbekistan since 2016 after more than a decade of being a Prime Minister of Uzbekistan. Following the death of President Islam Karimov, he won presidential election by landslide. Mirziyoyev’s victory had been widely expected since he took over as interim leader of the country in early September 2016.
