AKIPRESS.COM - The competition among women with longest hair was organized in At-Bashy district in the framework of the 7th International Festival “Kyrgyz Shyrdagy”, Turmush reported.
More than 30 women and young girls participated in the competition.
According to 59-year-old Nurbubu Jumayeva from Kara-Suu village of At-Bashy district, to win the competition participants had to tell about the meaning of hair in Kyrgyz culture as well as have their own hair done.
Nurbubu Jumayeva has 5 children. She used to be involved in farming before, but now she is retired.
According to her, she uses natural airan (kefir or traditional fermented dairy in Central Asia) to take care of her hair. Nurbubu has been growing her hair since grade 3 at elementary school.
She is 167 cm tall, while the length of her hair reaches 175 cm.
