Khaltmaa Battulga refused to settle in state residence: Media

AKIPRESS.COM - New president of Mongolia Khaltmaa Battulga refused to move to the state residence (Ikh Tenger complex) next to the mansions of the Speaker of Parliament Zandaakhüügiin Enkhbold and Prime Minister Jargaltulgyn Erdenebat, Mongolian media report.

The last 63 years, all former leaders of Mongolia - Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal, Natsagiin Bagabandi, Nambaryn Enkhbayar, and Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj -  lived in a protected area in the mountains of Bogdo Uul.

Battulga decided to settle in a small house next to the Central Post, once winter home of Tsedenbal.

Battulga intends to walk to his work every day, the distance is 400 meters.

"The president's administration hopes that many officials will also give up huge jeeps and other luxuries in their work and lives," the report says.
