OSCE supports Tajik police in developing electronic crime registration system

AKIPRESS.COM - The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe handed over a set of documents including technical specification for the first phase of e-crime registration system to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan on August 29 for further implementation funded by the United States, the OSCE reported.

The implementation, which is the next phase of the project, consists of the development of a software programme for the electronic system and its piloting in selected districts and regions of Tajikistan. The final phase will consist in the training of staff and will allow the e-crime registration system to be launched throughout Tajikistan.

“Let me express our appreciation to the Internal Affairs Ministry of Tajikistan for the excellent co-operation. We are confident that the establishment of the e-crime registration system will significantly contribute to the implementation of community-based police reform in Tajikistan,” said Fejzo Numanaj, Head of the OSCE Programme Office’s Politico-Military Department.

The Internal Affairs Ministry of Tajikistan has been automating the processing of information to create an integrated data base since 2010, beginning with the automated information system “Statistics,” which is able to process the criminal statistics data entered from hard copy sources.
