Oman to take part in two sports at Asian Indoor Games in Turkmenistan

AKIPRESS.COM - The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) has decided to send athletes in two sports to the forthcoming Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Times of Oman reported.

Five athletes - two in the indoor athletics and three in the indoor tennis competitions - will represent Oman at the Games set for September 17 to 27.

The five-member Omani team includes star athlete Barakat Al Harthi and fellow sprinter Ahmed Mubarak. Another Omani star Fatma Al Nabhani will spearhead Oman’s tennis challenge along with Sarah Al Balushi and the latter’s young sibling Maryam Al Balushi.

The Ashgabat 2017 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games are the fifth edition of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. There will be 21 sports at Ashgabat 2017 across 15 venues over 12 days of competition.

The 21 sports are 3x3 Basketball, Belt Wrestling, Billiard Sports, Bowling, Chess, DanceSport, Equestrian Jumping, Futsal, Indoor Athletics, Indoor Tennis, Ju Jitsu, Kickboxing, Kurash, Muaythai, Sambo, Short Course Swimming, Taekwondo, Track Cycling Traditional Wrestling, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
