AKIPRESS.COM - An-28 plane crashed near Almaty and caught on fire killing 5 people on board, official representative of the Emergency Situations Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Ruslan Imankulov said.
According to reports, there is a citizen of Kyrgyzstan among the dead, he was the captain.
A captain, co-pilot, technician and two health workers were on board, according to Imankulov.
Two medical workers — professor, obstetrician-gynecologist Talgat Patsayev and professor, doctor resuscitator Janibek Artykbayev — were on board, heading to Shymkent from Almaty. They were called in to provide a medical aid for a patient in critical condition.
The plane belonged to East Wing company and was operating Almaty-Shymkent flight. At 18:47 GMT+6 on October 3, the plane was lost from radar some 28 km of Almaty. The contact with the captain was lost.
Almaty mayor's office said the plane crashed into a peasant farm located in Iliy district. No deaths or injuries among those on ground.
According to preliminary data, there were no patients on the board. The causes of the crash are being investigated.
