AKIPRESS.COM - Press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan issued a statement concerning the reports about the talks between Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on current situation on Kyrgyz-Kazakh borders.

"First of all, the talks between the President of Kazakhstan and the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan did not take place in Sochi on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council," the statement said.

"There was a brief approach of Mr Isakov to the head of our state, which is confirmed by photograph posted on his [Sapar Isakov] personal page on Facebook," the statement said.

"Secondly, reports that the President of Kazakhstan "gave order to the Government of Kazakhstan to lift emerged questions on borders" do not correspond to reality," the press service said expressing "official confusion" over dissemination of "distorted information."

In reality, according to the statement, the Government of Kazakhstan was tasked by Nazarbayev to conduct inter-governmental consultations on the situation on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.

On October 11, spokesperson of the Kyrgyz Government Gulnura Toraliyeva said Isakov told Nazarbayev about the current situation on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border and requested to solve the situation, because it affects not only Kyrgyz and Kazakh people, but also citizens of third countries. "President of Kazakhstan ordered the Government to remove the issues that have arisen," she said.

On October 10 evening, a huge traffic jam was reported in the Ak Jol checkpoint on Kyrgyz-Kazakh border, people faced troubles in crossing the border from Kyrgyzstan into Kazakhstan, while people crossed the Kyrgyz border from Kazakhstan without any extra difficulties. A huge line of trucks was also seen stranded on the border area.

According to the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan, starting from 6 pm October 10, the Kazakhstani side has switched its works on checkpoints on Kyrgyz-Kazakh border to enhanced mode. "It therefore caused accumulation of passenger traffic, cargo and vehicles across the state border," the statement said.

Additionally, starting from 10 pm October 10, the Kyrgyz State Border Serviced switched to enhanced mode of operation in connection with upcoming presidential election due on October 15.
