Pavlodar refinery Director General sacked: KMG

AKIPRESS.COM - Shukhrat Danbai was dismissed as the Director General of the Pavlodar refinery, the KazMunayGaz national company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Ospanbek Alseitov was appointed the acting Director General of the refinery, the statement said.

Earlier, Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev vowed to fire the KMG top managers for the disruption in modernization of the Pavlodar refinery.

The deadline for the Pavlodar refinery modernization completion was set for October 26, for Atyrau refinery — September 16.

However, the KazMunayGaz postponed the completion dates until mid-December.

On November 7, Shukhrat Danbai told the Energy Ministry meeting on modernization of the Pavlodar refinery and the fuel market situation that the renovation has been completed.

"After completion of the capital renovation of the plant on October 26, installation of primary oil refining unit started. From October 30, installation of catalytic reforming has been put into operation, which made it possible to produce high-octane gasoline of K2 class in the amount of 1200 tons per day from November 1 to 2. From November 3, the output reached 2500 tons per day. With the launch of the catalytic cracking unit built within the modernization program, we will produce the first batch of high-octane gasoline of the ecological class K4 and ship up to 4200 tons per day," Danbai said.

After all new installations will reach their full capacities, production of light oil products will increase by more than 300,000 tons a year compared to 2016, Danbai said.

The modernization also switched the refinery to the increased overhaul cycle, which means the refinery will be modernized once in three years saving up to 35-40 production days a year.

Kazakhstan has three big oil refineries: Shymkent Refinery, Pavlodar Refinery, and Atyrau Refinery.
