Government won't recall bill allowing glacier mining in Kyrgyzstan: Vice PM

AKIPRESS.COM - Government of Kyrgyzstan won't recall draft amendments to the water code of Kyrgyzstan that allow glacier mining in the country, said Vice PM Duishenbek Zilaliyev.

"I will tell you frankly that we won't recall the bill on making amendments to the water code that allow glacier mining if necessary," Zilaliyev told a round-table discussion in Bishkek on Friday.

The participants of the discussion urged the Vice PM Zilaliyev and MP Aitmamat Nazarov to withdraw this bill and do not approve the third reading.

"We won't do that, because it must be working already," Zilaliyev said.

This statement called outcry among those gathered. The participants of the round-table discussion condemned the government.

"Why do we have to visit Kumtor mine, if there is already a foregone conclusion? If you will adopt this changes to the law, we will demand the resignation of the government and parliament," the participants outraged.

Zilaliyev asked the participants to calm down. In response, the crown left the discussion vowing to hold a protest action in front of the White House.
