2000 som commemorative note to be issued in Kyrgyzstan from Nov.17

AKIPRESS.COM - The first 2,000 commemorative banknote will be issued in Kyrgyzstan starting from November 17, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan said Tuesday.

Governor of the National Bank Kubanychbek Kulmatov said this is the first vertical national currency.

"The commemorative note will be issued by the National Bank in commemoration of the historical state events: the 25th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's independence and 25th anniversary of introduction of national currency," Kulmatov said.

"The note has an original design reflecting the history of Kyrgyz statehood formation from ancient times until modern days. It will have protection elements of latest generation," according to the head of the cash management department of the NBKR Medina Ashiraliyeva. 

It will be valid as payment mean, though the ATM machines and terminals won't accept this banknote.

The price of one 2,000-som banknote will be 2,000 som, the National Bank said.

This note will be issued once.

Kyrgyzstan has 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, and 5000 som denominations.
