Foreign trade of Tajikistan downs by 2%

AKIPRESS.COM - The volume of foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan amounted to more than $3.2 billion over the last 10 months, which is 2$ or $8 million less compared to the same period of last year, according to the Statistics Agency of the country.

Import of goods stood at more than $2.2 billion, which is 10.5% or $266 million less than the same period of 2016.

import of machinery and equipment, base metals, vegetable products, flour and wheat declined significantly.

While export of products this year increased by almost 35% or $258 million amounting to more than $1 billion. Increase of export was primarily due to the increase of exports of stone, gypsum and cement products, precious and semi-precious stones and metals, mineral products, polymer materials, finished food products.

Russia remains the main trade partner of Tajikistan: trade turnover between the countries amounted to $765 million during the reported period having decreased by 18% compared with 2016.

The Tajik-Kazakh trade turnover reached $673 million over the past 10 years growing by almost 30% than in 2016.
