AKIPRESS.COM - A Chinese company will build a new aluminium plant on the territory of the existing aluminium plant TALKO in Tajikistan, the national news agency of Tajikistan reported with reference to spokesman of the Tajik aluminium company Igor Sattarov.
According to him, the company TALKO plans to start implementation of the program on modernization of the aluminium plant in 2018 for $1.6 billion.
In the framework of the visit of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to China this September, the Tajik aluminium company signed a memorandum on cooperation with the China's Yunnan Construction and Investment Holding Group.
The sides achieved the agreement on construction of the new aluminium plant with an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons on the territory of the existing aluminium plant.
The new plant is expected to be more energy efficient than TALKO's existing aluminium plant that also has a 500,000-ton production capacity but produced just 76,000 tonnes in the first nine months of 2017.
