'It's symbolic that I made my first visit to Russia': Jeenbekov to Russia's Dmitry Medvedev

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov on November 29 as part of his working trip to Russia met with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the Government's press service reported.

The two discussed issues of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation, as well as the directions of further relations between the countries.

Medvedev congratulated Jeenbekov on his election as President and wished him successes in the work.

"We have already met several times, when you was Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, and discussed trade, economic, investment, humanitarian cooperation issues between our countries. We hope for preservation of what you, as the Prime Minister, and the previous President were doing, and also continuation of the working contacts that are currently underway," he said.

The Russian Prime Minister underlined that the bilateral relations between the countries reached a new level over the past years.

Jeenbekov, in turn, thanked for welcome and congratulations.

“It's symbolic that I, as a President of the Kyrgyz Republic, made my first visit to Russia. This means that Kyrgyzstan is strongly committed to strengthening the alliance ans strategic partnership of our countries,” he said.
