Uzbekistan marks 25th Constitution Day

AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan today is celebrating the Day of Constitution, which was first adopted in December 1992 at the session of the Supreme Council of the country.

This day was then announced non-working.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the ceremony dedicated to the 25th anniversary of adoption of the Constitution of the country reminded that the fundamental law was twice submitted for public discussion — in September and November 1992.

As a result of the public discussion, about 100 amendments were introduced to the draft of the Constitution and the Supreme Court adopted the Constitution on December 8, 1992.

"As a President of Uzbekistan and a guarantee of the Constitution, I consider the ensuring supremacy of statute law, protection of rights and freedom of every citizen in our society as a sacred duty," Mirziyoyev said.
