AKIPRESS.COM - The Uzbek atlas and adras fabrics have been included in the list of intangible cultural heritages of UNESCO, the UN Radio reports.
The decision was made by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Jeju.
Uzbekistan's Margilan is located in Ferghana valley has been historical center of manufacturing of satin and adras – national fabrics with a pattern. To revive and preserve the disappearing traditions, the Crafts Development Center was opened in 2007 in the city of Margilan.
The Center is engaged in preservation, development and promotion of the atlas and adras.
