Local self-government bodies from Issyk-Kul and Batken regions to have a roundtable to showcase their best practices in service delivery and management

AKIPRESS.COM - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will organize a roundtable for local self-government bodies from Issyk-Kul and Batken regions December 13 to showcase their best practices in service delivery and management, the US Embassy said.

Representatives of 16 municipalities from Batken, Naryn, Issyk-Kul and Osh provinces, the national government, and international organizations will come together to share new methods for prioritizing government efforts based on citizens’ preferences.

Leaders from three municipalities will present how this approach, combined with some new management techniques, has enabled them to better serve their citizens. The head of Teploklyuchenka municipality in Issyk-Kul region will showcase a new veterinary service which assists people in disinfecting their cattle. The head of Jeti-Oguz municipality in Issyk-Kul region will present the opening of a sports club at the local sports center.

The third presenter from Kulundu municipality in Batken region will talk about the advantages of using an automated management system to improve municipality’s daily work. All three presenters will discuss in detail their new methods for organizing service delivery, in order to enable other leaders from other areas to do the same.

The United States Government, through the USAID Community and Municipal Governance Initiative, works with municipalities like these to help local self-governments and local people gain from each other’s efforts and advice.
