President, CSTO Secretary General discuss ties

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov received Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Yuri Khatchaturov  on December 19 in Bishkek, the president's office said.

Jeenbekov and Khatchaturov discussed the plans of the organization for 2018.

Jeenbekov welcomed the results of the jubilee session of the CSTO in Minsk on 30 November 2017.

"My first working trip was made to Moscow, then Minsk, where the jubilee session of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held. I was glad that I met with all the heads of the member states of the organization and discussed all the cooperation issues on the agenda. This trip was very useful," Jeenbekov said.

He added that Kyrgyzstan attaches special importance to cooperation within the CSTO as a guarantor of security in the region and reaffirms Kyrgyzstan's commitment to the development and strengthening of a wider ties within the organization.

Khatchaturov, for his part, congratulated Jeenbekov on wining presidential election and praised peaceful transfer of power in the country. "It gives you more opportunity to conduct a firm policy of development of the state," Khatchaturov said,

He thanked the republic for attention to the activities of the CSTO and efforts to strengthen its positions.
