#7 Atambayev criticizes Kazakh officials, blames them of meddling in domestic affairs and liking Bakiyev

17,135

On October 7, 2017, then President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev told "why Kazakh officials want so hard to meddle in our affairs."

"The Bakiyevs still hold their parties in Kazakhstan. I still hear from some Kazakh officials that the Bakiyevs were right to shoot people, because we are showing a bad example for Kazakh people," Atambayev said at the ceremony of awarding state awards.

"Nursultan Nazarbayev is right to say that GDP of Kazakhstan is 8 times bigger than Kyrgyzstan's. And that the average gross product of Kazakhstan in revenues is ten times bigger than Kyrgyzstan's. But why then pensions in Kazakhstan are not that big and prices are 5 times higher? Because government of Kazakhstan is plundering its people. And we show bad example to them, Atambayev is a bad example," he said.

"I support Nazarbayev's words saying a young President should come to power. But the oldest candidate is 20 years younger than Nazarbayev. I am 16 years younger than Nazarbayev. Who really needs a young ruler? Kazakhstan or us? The Kazakhs are our brothers, we know the history. Kazakhs are us who 500 years ago who chose a Chingizide as a sultan, and they seem like still having Chingizides in power, not Kazakhs," Atambayev said.
