AKIPRESS.COM - A water mill in Barskoon village, Jeti-Oguz district, Issyk-Kul region dates back to 1916-1917 years when Kyrgyz people had a revolt against Russian Tsarist forces, resulting in a mass flight to escape to Sinkiang in China. The events occurred at the Bedel Pass border post near the Kyrgyz-Chinese border on July 30, 1916.
Barskoon villager Ulan Mambetov said the mill needs to be reconstructed. "The mill was built right after the revolt called Urkun. The condition of the water mill has significantly deteriorated and it needs to be either reconstructed or taken to the historical museum as an exhibit," he said.
Head of the village Ruslam Eshmambetov said the mill was transfered to private individuals and bears a historical significance.
