Life in rural Kyrgyzstan: Only two children study in some classes of Jezgen village

AKIPRESS.COM - Jezgen village school in Leilek district of Batken region is in emergency situation, Turmush reports.

According to village chief  Alimbek Kalygulov, the village is located 30 meters away from the district center and is the only Uzbek language school. It was built in 2001 by local people.

Today the school is in emergency situation; walls are breaking down and the floors are rotted.

10 teachers work at this school of 70 children: two 10th graders, two 11th graders, and 10 children in each elementary grade.

School has 4 classrooms and the 7th, 8th, and 9th graders study in the same classroom and are taught by the same teacher.

Locals are requesting to build a new school.
