AKIPRESS.COM - About 200 young writers from 18 countries will gather in PyeongChang Jan. 19-22 for the 2018 PyeongChang Humanities Forum designed to drum up interest in the Winter Olympics, which are set to open in the South Korean alpine town in February, Yonhap news agency reported citing organizers.
New generation writers talk about peace: for a world full of nature, life and peace, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said.
Among the international writers invited to the forum is Dalmira Tilepbergenova of Kyrgyzstan. There will be a poetry reading by 12.On Sunday, the participants will take a tour of South Korea's frontline areas in Paju near the demilitarized zone that separates the two Koreas, and the venues for the PyeongChang Olympics. They will create a "peace declaration" together before having the closing ceremony on Monday at the resort.
The first ever Winter Olympics in South Korea are to be held in the host city of PyeongChang, 182 kilometers east of Seoul, and two nearby cities -- Gangneung and Jeongseon -- from Feb. 9-25.
