Tajikistan bans import of cars released before 2005

AKIPRESS.COM - The Tajik authorities plan to impose ban on the import of cars released before 2005.

"Import of vehicles released until 2005 will be banned," chief of the department of use and protection of the atmosphere of the Environmental Protection Committee Saidusmon Sudurov told reporters on January 25.

According to him, the initiative was made by the government of the country.

"The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade created a working group and the project was submitted for discussion," he said.

If the project is supported, import of vehicles released until 2005 will be banned from April 1, 2018.

The project aims to protect the environment. "Old vehicles pollute the air, especially in large cities," Sudurov added.
