SNB of Uzbekistan renamed State Security Service of Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on March 14 signed the order on reforming the activities of the National Security Service.

The order proposes to rename SNB into the State Security Service to improve the activities on protection of the constitutional order, sovereignty, territorial integrity and state interests from foreign and internal threats.

The State Security Service goals will include provision of the state security and protection of interests of the country from foreign and internal threats, execution of the intelligence and counter-intelligence operation, protection of the state border, as well as fighting against terrorism, organized crime and corruption.

Mirziyoyev on January 31, 2018 dismissed the general Rustam Inoyatov, who has been served as Chief of then-SNB for 23 years. Ikhtiyor Abdullayev, who was Prosecutor's General of Uzbekistan, replaced him on this position.
