Mongolia-Turkey Intergovernmental Commission discusses cooperation issues

AKIPRESS.COM - Speaker of Mongolian Parliament Miyegombyn Enkhbold met with Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Hakan Cavusoglu, who led Turkish part for the 8th Mongolia-Turkey Intergovernmental Commission meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Speaker pointed out the importance of the meeting on broadening friendly ties between the two countries. The two countries have a long history of bilateral relations and there is full potential to intensify cooperation in all spheres, enriching it with new contents. It is our duty to use the chance well, Montsame news agency reported Cavusoglu as saying.

"As of 2017, trade turnover between the two countries reached just USD 30 million. Therefore, the parties have agreed to collaborate in agriculture, education and small and medium enterprise spheres. Turkish side has a willingness to invest in Mongolia to boost Mongolian economy," he said.

Mr.Hakan Cavusoglu underlined that Turkey gives significance to implement projects through TIKA, choosing ones that would contribute to economic development of Mongolia and increase number of students to study in Turkey. "Turkish schools running operations in Mongolia will be transferred to ‘Maarif’ Foundation at the Ministry of National Education of Turkey, taking measures in direction of renewing training equipment, preventing from violating rights of Mongolian students and giving high-quality education to them."

Moreover, issues on establishment of tourism complex in Orkhon Valley and founding leather and hide processing industry were included in TIKA projects and they are reflected in a document of the joint meeting, he said.
