Life in rural Kyrgyzstan: Endangered flowers that only grow in Batken start blooming

AKIPRESS.COM - Endangered flowers that only grow in Batken start blooming, forestry employee Askarbek Duisheyev said.

The flower Aigul began to bloom on April 10. About 200 people have already visited the Aigul-Too mountain to take a look at the flower. 

Aigul, or moon flower, is a species of flowering plant in the lily family, native to Central Asia. It grows in the south of Kyrgyzstan. The scientific name of the plant is Fritillaria eduardii. It is closely related to the widely cultivated species, F. imperialis, called "Crown imperial."

This plant belongs to the endangered species and is listed in the endangered-species book of Kyrgyzstan.

Aigul flower height can reach 1-1.5 meters.
