Ulaanbaatar to offer bike rental service to reduce traffic jams, air pollution

AKIPRESS.COM - A consortium of Nickel Ganbaa LLC, Petrovis LLC and Khasbank will run UBIKE project to offer bike rental service in Ulaanbaatar, Montsame reports.

Bike rental service has proved to help reduction of traffic jam, air pollution and improving health of citizens.

Ulaanbaatar authorities working on expanding bike lanes in the city and launching bike rental service in line with international standards to realize bike lanes sub-program reflected in 2016-2020 action plan of the Governor of capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar.

Mayor S.Batbold announced an open tender in March 2017 to run the UBIKE project and the consortium, the bid winner, signed an agreement to implement the project on April 24.

2000 bikes and 150 bike parking spaces are foreseen for the project during 2018-2020. The project will use domestically made bikes, smart payment and checking systems.

The bike rent price will be MNT 500 per half an hour and MNT 800 per hour.
